Spare Engine 1

Spare Engine 1 is a 1981 Mack MC with a 1250gpm pump and a 500gal booster tank. This piece has previously served as Engine 1, Engine 6, and Engine 15. Spare 1 sees more duty as a long term replacement engine when front line pieces are out of service than Spare Engine 2, but also has seen duty recently as simply an extra piece of apparatus on the fireground. It was called upon most recently for this duty March 5, 2001 for the Idora Park Ballroom fire. This photo is of the former Engine 1, current Engine 15, a 1982 Mack MC, which is a piece similar to Spare 1.
