Local firefighters pay tribute to NYC tragedy

Youngstown, Ohio, Sept. 13 - Valley firefighters are responding to the call for help in New York City tragedy. They plan to pay tribute to rescue workers who have lost their lives while trying to save others.

Valley civil servants are responding to the call for help in New York City tragedy.  Some local firefighters have volunteered to be on call to relieve workers when needed.  The firefighters are asking for a little "spiritual" help themselves.  "They couldn't stand back and wait for them," say Warren Fire Department Lieutenant Al Brown.  "They had to try and get as many people as they could."

Warren firefighters will be holding a prayer vigil at the main fire station at noon on Thursday.  They will pay tribute to rescue workers who have lost their lives while trying to save others.  Youngstown firefighters used a ladder truck to lower their flag to half staff.
They hope the flag can remain like this until all the victims are laid to rest. From the WFMJ website, 9.14.2001. © 2001, WFMJ TV 21.
