Local Ambulances Sent to New York ; Fire Departments On Call
Youngstown- by Pat Livingston
Rural/Metro Ambulance company early Wednesday sent seven ambulances and 15 paramedics to New York City to assist in rescue efforts.

The local company sent 3 cars from Mercer County and two cars each from Columbiana and Mahoning Counties.

The direct response team will remain in New York until they are no longer needed.

About 20 local fire departments and rescue crews are on stand-by. The State Fire Marshall's Office is coordinating Ohio's volunteer effort and is expected to call departments as they are needed.

If local firefighters are called, they will have two hours to pack up and leave.
