Flames destroy part of local steel company Youngstown, Ohio, June 19 - Some employees of a Youngstown business are now out of work after a large blaze burned down part of the facility. Emergency crews found the structure engulfed in flames when they arrived at the scene. Fire Chief John O'Neil says all they could do was keep the blaze from spreading. "We don't have a lot of water down in this area," says O'Neil. "So, we're going to just protect some of the buildings that they have outside of the scrap yard here and make sure it doesn't extend into those. Besides that, let this building come down." A damage estimate is set at $2 million. Photo Caption: A firefighter struggles to put out flames at Midwest Steel. All from the WFMJ website, 6.20.2001. © 2001, WFMJ TV 21. |
