A Lasting Remembrance...

 

"Firemen are going to get killed right along. They know it, every
man of them. Firefighting is a hazardous occupation. It is
dangerous on the face of it, tackling a burning building.
The risks are plain. Consequently when a man has become a fireman
his act of bravery has been accomplished."

The Youngstown Fire Department has been serving the residents of Youngstown since 1868. They work on pride, dedication and determination. Day-in, and day-out, they risk there lives for the citizens they protect. This page is dedicated to the 19 Youngstown firefighters who have given their lives for that cause.

On October 8, 1979 the Firefighter's Memorial was dedicated across from No.1 fire station. It was created by Fire Inspector Bill Brown. It is a lasting remembrance to:
