1909 Webb Fire Auto/ Automobile Engine and Hose 8
In 1909, the Youngstown Fire Department became one of the first departments in the United States to buy a motorized fire truck. Purchased from the Webb Motor Company, the YFD put this rig into service at its newly-opened Station 8 on Market St. and Frederick on June 4, 1909. This truck was nicknamed "Thomas" because the trucks were built on Thomas automobile chassis'.
